Sports Medicine is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries due to athletic activity. Many of these disorders are treated with arthroscopic surgery, a minimally invasive surgical method that utilizes a camera to look inside a joint and specialized instruments to carry out any necessary surgery in that joint.

The practice of sports medicine is a team approach with input from a physician, orthopaedic surgeon, rehabilitation specialist, athletic trainer, and physical therapist. The Sports Medicine Center at OrthoWest employs a team approach to offering the athlete the most comprehensive services in order to minimize down time and expedite return to normal activity. Our physicians are board certified and fellowship trained in arthroscopy and sports medicine. They have experience in treating professional, college, high school, and recreational athletes. Our rehabilitation specialists and athletic trainers also work closely with the physician and athlete to execute physical therapy protocols and maximize functional recovery.
